Meet our Doctors, Dr. Young and Dr. Higham

Dr. Dallin Young spent most of his childhood in Utah. After graduating from high school, he attended Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo Utah, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Biology (1997), and a Master’s of Science in Zoology (2000). Following his studies at BYU, he and his wife moved to Iowa to attend University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where he graduated in 2003. Dr. Young continued his training and completed a two year specialty program in Pediatric Dentistry at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

Dr. Young opened Magic Valley’s first full time pediatric dental practice in August of 2005. He continued his pursuit in educational excellence and became board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2009. Dr. Young is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Idaho State Dental Association. He continually updates his knowledge of pediatric dentistry by participating in local and national continuing education courses.

Dr. Young enjoys spending time with his wife Susan, and their four children. In addition to playing competitive tennis, he enjoys mountain and road biking, fishing, and camping. One of his favorite hobbies is catching and raising butterflies and moths with his children.

“I have always wanted to work with children. Pediatric dentistry is particularly rewarding because I get to be a part of children’s first impression of dentistry. Helping children get out of pain so they can eat, sleep, and concentrate literally changes their lives. Making dental check-ups fun, and motivating children to take care of their teeth makes every day rewarding in our practice.”

Dr. Jordan Higham was born and raised in the Idaho Falls area, graduating from Shelley High School in 1996. He received his bachelor’s degree from Idaho State in 2003. He and his wife then moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington School of Dentistry, where he graduated in 2007. After graduation, he pursued specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Rochester/Eastman Institute for Oral Health. After two years in New York, Dr. Higham completed his specialty training and moved back to Idaho Falls. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Academy for Sports Dentistry.

Dr. Higham has been married for 8 years and loves spending time with his wife and children. When he is not in the office, Dr. Higham enjoys golfing, attending sporting events, traveling, and spending time with his family.

“What I enjoy most about pediatric dentistry is creating long-term relationships with the kids; whether it’s helping a fearful child feel comfortable in the office, or having children run up to me on the playground excited to show me that they lost another tooth. I enjoy getting to know the kids and watching them grow.”
